In Loving Memory of Gaby Gandal
With profound sadness and deep gratitude, we remember Gabriele (Gaby) Gandal—an extraordinary neighbor, visionary leader, and cherished friend to all who knew her. As a founding board member of the Rollingwood Citizens Association (RCA), Gaby’s unwavering commitment and boundless energy helped shape the very spirit of our community.
Gaby made Rollingwood her home for most of her adult life, pouring her heart into every endeavor. Her leadership extended far beyond RCA; she also served as a dedicated board member of Chevy Chase At Home, worked tirelessly as a precinct captain for the Montgomery County Board of Elections, and championed our local schools as PTSA president. Gaby’s advocacy, warmth, and generosity touched countless lives.
The roots of RCA trace back to the early 1980s, when the future of Rollingwood Elementary School was uncertain. Sensing the urgent need for unity and action, Gaby joined a group of neighbors to form the RCA—an organization that would become the bedrock of our community. Through her many years as RCA president, Gaby’s vision and leadership created lasting connections and a sense of belonging for all.
Gaby was more than a leader; she was a caring, approachable neighbor whose kindness and optimism brightened every gathering. Her legacy of service, compassion, and community spirit will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
We are forever grateful for Gaby’s remarkable contributions—and we will always remember her with love and admiration.
