2025 RCA Annual Meeting

Community members gathered in the auditorium at the Chevy Chase Women’s Club on May 1, 2025. After 15 minutes of socialization the meeting was called to order by RCA President, Leslie. After the standard recognition of the guests and the RCA Board members, Leslie listed out the accomplishments of RCA in the past 12 months including social events, landscaping, traffic, communications, neighborhood watch, advocacy and membership. The goals for 2025 are as follows: social events for all ages, increase membership dramatically, increase advocacy and increase collaboration with the other Chevy Chase municipalities. The treasurer reported on RCA's membership at 210 homes and the financial position which is strong. RCA's costs are roughly equal to the current income from membership. Leslie gave an update on the Zoning Text Amendment package presented to the County Council recently. This allows up-zoning on the business corridors (East West Hwy. and Connecticut Ave.). Leslie also gave an update on the Rollingwood School property which is in disrepair and impractical to renovate. She is monitoring the situation and reaching out to the School Board President and the new superintendent. Nadine Chapman gave an update on efforts to create an enslaved persons memorial at Brookville Market and Meadowbrook Park. The Q/A at the end of the meeting featured a lively discussion about the trees that were removed by a developer. There was also a discussion about cleaning up the nearby Rock Creek Park trails and creek area. The RCA Board is developing a new membership flyer to be handed out to new residents in the neighborhood.
